New Westminster, BC
The New West Civic Centre and office tower is part of ongoing revitalization efforts in the historic part of New Westminster in an effort to breathe new life into the area and create easy access to rapid transit. The Civic Centre section will consist of medium sized conference facilities, a 350 seat non proscenium theatre, art gallery and arts programming activity, the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame and New Westminster Museum and Archives. This project is LEED standard.
Ecco Heating moved their location in Burnaby and renovations to their new complex had the sheet metal/ HVAC completed by Ridge Sheet Metal.
Telus Garden is transforming an entire city block down town Vancouver with innovative design and master plan created by the acclaimed firm Henriquez Partners Architects. The 24-storey signature office building comprises of 500,000 square feet of new office building and is LEED Platinum certification to conserve that the project is energy and environmental friendly standards during the construction stage.
The South Surrey Recreation Centre is an eco-friendly, state-of-the art recreation facility that offers programs for all ages, all cultures and all fitness levels. The City of Surrey is proud to be partnering with Semiahmoo Arts, the South Surrey White Rock Arts Society, Arts Umbrella, Semiahmoo Potter’s and the Surrey Y.M.C.A. on the creation of a new arts hub located at the South Surrey Recreation and Arts Centre.
Pacific Centre shopping mall is undertaking a multi-million dollar redevelopment of the existing building that will be occupied by Nordstrom while creating new retail and commercial mixed-use space. The project is LEED certified and the shell of the build will remain but the structure will be re-clad in glass. The Nordstrom space will occupy 230,000 square feet on three floors and a new 48,000 square feet multi-tenant retail space will also be on the lower mall level and the top four levels of the building will be converted to 280,000 square feet of office space.
Simon Fraser University renovated 100,000 square foot commercial building into classrooms and laboratory space. The LEED Gold renovation included full seismic and fire rating upgrades to every floor, the build out of 45,000 square feet of classrooms on the 2nd floor and skylight, atrium and lobby finishes.
Simon Fraser University renovated the Shrum Cemistry building with a $35 million dollar budget. The complex renovations also included deficient exterior envelope of the building was replaced with glass and zinc panelling and new architectural concrete.
Part of a long-term revitalization effort by the City of Surrey, the Surrey Public Library was built to replace the Whalley Public Library. The design was created by Bing Thom Architect who had designed the nearby City Centre complex as well as Vancouver-area buildings such as the UBC Chan Centre. The total budget was set at $36 million, the provincial and federal governments each contributed $10 million with the remainder supplied by the city. The building was built by LEED silver energy efficient standards and the library has 7,200 square metres of usable space over four floors.
1134 Burrard Street is a new multi-million dollar supportive project in partnership with the City of Vancouver and Government of BC to provide 141 apartments for adults and youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and a new youth centre that will offer supports for youth living on site and in the community.
False Creek, BC
Located in Southeast False Creek, The Central is an architectural icon built with two towers connected with a sky bridge that has both commercial and residential space. The Central architecture is advanced sustainable design is created by award winning DIALOG, formerly Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden.
The Township of Langley in partnership with the B.C. Lacrosse Association, Wrestling BC, Vollyball BC and Volleyball Canada expanded the Langley Events Centre to create a new double gymnasium, indoor turf/dry floor facility, eight additional change rooms, storage and support space. The project budget was 7.725 million.
The new UBC Student Union Building is LEED Platinum and will be extremely energy efficient once construction is completed. The SUB building is designed with minimizing consumption and with natural ventilation and daylight are measures of a list of plans that are integral to this low energy building. Rain water will be collected as one of the means to reduce water use considerably on the project.
